Where has 2026 gone?
They say as you get older time goes faster. Last year was a good year, as I was selected to represent New Zealand at the ITTF-Oceania Para Championships 2025 held in Auckland from September 26 to 28, followed by the NZ Nationals.
Dunedin held the South Island Para Table Tennis Championships in April, and it was great to see James Goulding, the NZ number one, come down.
Karate has been going really well; however, I had to miss the Chief Instructors Gasshuku (training camp) in Fuzhou, China, due to the Oceania table tennis competition.
This year started with a table tennis training camp, followed by the Masters in Dunedin. In March, I attended the IOGKFNZ North Island training camp at Papamoa, an awesome camp hosted by Sensei Phil Dovaston.
My karate club, the Dunedin Institute of Traditional Karate, has been going well. Eight of us are heading to Goulburn, NSW in October to attend the IOGK 2026 Asia Pacific Gasshuku, where I have been honored to be invited as one of the 20 international instructors.
Alongside my sports and coaching, I am continuing to undertake accessibility audits and handle related enquiries. I remain dedicated to working with local businesses, organizations, and community spaces to ensure environments are inclusive, practical, and accessible for everyone.
